All Multi Multi stations should be proud of their efforts - it is a huge undertaking. The multi multi competition between the teams at W3LPL, KC1XX and K3LR is awesome and we are thrilled to be a part of it during the DX contests. A MAJOR thank you to my good friend Dave, W9ZRX who has been working on tons of projects with us since last Spring. His efforts to get the K3LR station ready really paid off – in many ways - with outstanding hardware performance. This contest had some great OP moments: The K3LR 10 meter team of George, N3GJ and Claudio, LU7DW were very surprised by the opening to Europe on Sunday that netted several new multipliers. Conditions overall were excellent – The K3LR 15 meter team (Carsten, DL6LAU and Phil, K3UA) had 261 contacts in one hour during the initial European run on Saturday. The biggest surprise was when K3LR 80 meter team operator Andy, N2NT worked B7P on 80 meters – beNT path. The phased four square vertical array that we use at K3LR was N2NT’s idea, so it is only fitting that he had one of the best QSOs ever with that antenna. N2NT was on 20 meters at K3LR late Sunday where he worked B7P (again) and they discussed the awesome 80 meter QSO that occurred earlier. The K3LR 160 team (John, N2NC) had to be very patient this weekend – openings were short – but you had to be there - as the band was very unpredictable. John has an incredible knack for staying with the band for hours on end - squeezing every QSO possible. 40 meters was everything we could have hope for – due to the decreased broadcast station interference - the K3LR 40 meter team of W2RQ and K8GL had even more fun this year vs. years’ past. Over 100 VK stations were worked on 40! The K3LR 20 meter team of John, K1AR and Dan, N6MJ (Mr. MoJo - MaJic) had an incredible 175 counties in all 40 zones - add in more than 3200 QSOs – that's some real WOW! Good job men! CQWW 2009 Phone - photos and audio clips will be posted here: http://www.k3lr.com We’ll see everyone for the CW part of CQWW in November.
